Nannen-Verlag, GmbH, Hamburg, 1965.
First german edition, first printing.
One of the most important photobooks ever published:
- Andrew Roth, The Book of 101 Books, page 140-143
- The Open Book, Hasselblad Center, page 204/205
- 802 books from the M.+M. Auer collection, page 436
The copy comes from the private collection of the famous german photographer Michael Ruetz (with his Ex-Libris on one of the first pages; no other marks), so unique and exclusive copy.
Hardcover in white linen with dustjacket. 350 x 260 mm. 184 pages. Forword by Richard Friedenthal. Text in german.
Book inside and outside excellent; fresh and clean with no marks and no foxing. Dustjacket with only little trace of use, complete with no missing parts and still very impressive; one minimal tear at the top of the rear side, taped with clear tape at the rear side (from outside) and at the inner flap of the front cover with trace of a former clear tape. Dustjacket overall still very impressive and better than usual. Overall fine condition.
Very beautiful, big format edition in breath-taking printing (for many collectors the best of all editions).
With the scarce original dustjacket.
One of the fabalous four city-books by the artist, beside "Life is good & good for you in New York" (Andrew Roth/Book of 101 Books, Martin Parr/Gerry Badger/The Photobook), Rome/Roma and Moskau/Moscow). Fantastic photobook in breathtaking layout and photogravure (by Zokeisha/Tokyo)
