A fine set of two porcelain vases, of baluster shape, measuring 46.5cm in height and weighing a combined 6270g, nicely painted in polychrome enamels with decor of two peacocks on a tall rock next to flowering peonies, and two pheasants on a rock next to flowering peonies. Decorated to the reverse with calligraphic poetic text. Marked to the underside with apocryphal six-character Qianlong reign mark in zhuanshu script, in iron red. Condition: Peacock vase with crack and chip to the body, mostly visible from the inside. Pheasant vase in an excellent condition.
