Description: beautiful little map with sailboats and sea monsters in the North Sea, Zuiderzee and the Wadden. The coat of arms of Holland and a compass with scale stick. Above the frame is the book press title ‘Hollandia. 19.’, on the right 31, below signature E 4, Phrise., verso French text ‘Phrise’. Engraver is Filips Galle and the text was written by Pieter Heyns. The map is from "Le Miroir du monde" (French edition), published by Christoffel Plantijn for Filips Galle in Antwerp in 1579.
Dimensions: map 7.8 x 10.9 cm - page 14.3 x 18.8 cm.
Condition: excellent. Very good print. Nice hand-colouring.
