|Poster title:||Yes We Came|
|状态:||A- (fine - tiny imperfections)|
A rare signed and numbered original Cuban screen-printed poster that was designed to salute the historic March 2016 visit to Havana by United States President Barack Obama. The trip was the first by a U.S. president to Cuba in more than 80 years, and it followed the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two neighboring coumtries after 50+ years.
This colorful, limited-edition Pop Art screen-print, which depicts Obama in Havana’s Plaza de la Revolucion, wearing a traditional Cuban guayabera shirt with a Cuban cigar in his pocket, was designed by award-winning Cuban painter, illustrator and graphic artist Arístides Hernández, who is known as ARES.
Only 50 copies of this numbered First Edition poster were screened by ARES. The title of the poster YES WE CAME is a clever play on the Hispanic rallying cry "Sí, se puede," which roughly means YES, WE CAN (which became Obama's first presidential campaign slogan in 2008).
