Lima is the capital and the largest city of Peru, more than 50% of Lima’s population, however, lives in poverty. Many families in the shanty towns only have one short-term objective: to survive. In some of these areas, 30% of the children never achieve the age of 2.
Children of Lima is a Belgian non-profit charity helps poor families with infrastructure, education and community support. In the rocky and sandy hills, volunteers from Children of Lima help the families to get water, electricity, safety, and education for the children. All projects are defined and implemented together with the local communities, with sustainability being a key requirement.
